Norwood, A Restaurant Destination: Part 1

Schwarma CoAs many of you may have realised, I have taken it upon myself to explore the restaurant scene in the East Rand. After covering Cyrildene or China town, I travelled a little further, to Norwood.

Norwood is a quaint, old, tree-lined suburb of Jo’burg, with many houses dating back to the 1920’s and 30’s. It’s a very multi-cultural and multi-racial area, with Jews, Muslims, Italians, West Africans and South Africans living together. Not surprisingly then, the suburb is popular for its restaurants, serving diverse cuisines.

Grant Avenue in Norwood is akin to 4th Avenue in Parkhurst or 4th Avenue in Melville – lined with cafes and eateries. You can read more of this article here.
